Pasupatheeswarar Thiruvamur TempleĀ  is an east facing temple built in the birthplace of Appar (Thirunavukkarasar). Appar traveled to about one hundred and twenty-five temples in different towns or villages in Tamil Nadu and rendered Hymns on Lord Shiva in 49,000 stanzas out of which 3130 are now available and compiled in the Tirumurai 4-7.
