Vanmikanadar Cheyyur is an ancient temple with 2 Prakarams and an entrance gateway in the south with a small 3 tiered gopuram. The outer prakaram is filled with weeds and work is going on to clean up and pave the pathways and spruce up the shrines. There are some beautifully carved pillars with horsemen and people. Some remnants of a Mantapa in the forms of tall stone pillars are seen outside the entrance at the south. The Goddess here is in Lakshmi Swaroopam with Padmam (Lotus) and Neelothpala (Monochoria vaginalis) flowers in her hands, unlike other temples where she is seen in Sakthi Swaroopam. We learnt that water is known to inundate the temple during heavy rains and even enter the sanctum sanctorum, but the rituals continue.
