Lakshminarasimhar Pazhayaseevaram is a beautiful hill temple located right on the banks of the Paalar River. An evening visit here will be a great experience and you will want to spend more time if you know the importance of this ancient temple. Lakshminarasimhar Pazhayaseevaram is located on a hill called Padmagiri. Lakshminarasimhar faces west towards Kancheepuram and the Varadaraja Perumal Temple. It is said that the stone to carve the idol of Lord Varadaja Perumal at Kancheepuram was taken from here when the original Athivaradar made of wood was damaged. The utsavar from Varadaraja perumal temple still visits this temple every year on the day after Sankranti. The Utsavar is taken up to the hilltop Varadarajar Mantapam and brought down to the Lakshminarasimhar Temple in the evening from where both leave to give Darshan to devotees at the Appan Lord Srinivasa Temple at Thirumukkoodal on the other side of the Paalar River. Another important aspect is that the temple is situated on the Triveni Sangam (confluence of 3 rivers) of Paalar, Cheyyar and a little before them, Vegavati. This Sangam is considered more sacred than all, including that of Ganges, as unlike other places where the third river is mythical, here it is real. A large temple tank is seen towards the west of the temple. The temple is maintained beautifully following all traditions strictly under the trustees who belong to the Gujarati Vaishnavite community who have been living in Chennai for generations.
