Amaravatheeswarar Sirukalathur is an ancient temple built by the Cholas covering a large piece of land. The temple is reduced today to a small campus and had been neglected, robbed and dilapidated for quite some time. Recently efforts were made to renovate the temple and it has yielded results. The processional deities are understood to be kept safely at the Kovur Sundareswarar Temple.
