Sreenivasa Perumal Semmenchery is a beautiful east facing temple set serenely amidst the bustling OMR. The temple has a 3 tier Rajagopuram at its entrance in the east. A single clean and spacious Prakaram houses all the shrines and the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Lord is seen here with four hands holding the Conch, Disc and blessing the devotees with the other two hands. In the Sanctum Sanctorum is also present Bhoga Srinivasa’s bronze idol. Anjaneya faces the lord from a separate shrine. The pillars of the Mantapam here has several beautiful carvings including Kotandaramar, Sanjeevi Anjaneya, Mahalakshmi, Vishnu in his Koorma Avatara and Krishna tied to the grinding stone and also felling two trees while dragging it. The Vimaanam has concrete sculptures of the Dasavatara. An old idol of Srinivasa Perumal is installed behind the Sanctum Sanctorum. Old idols of Azhwars and Acharyas are also installed in the compound.

History

Sreenivasa Perumal Semmenchery is an ancient temple going back several hundred years and was in a dilapidated state in recent times. The cause was taken up by devotees and well wishers and the temple has been beautifully renovated now. The old idols including the original main deity is testimony to the antiquity of this temple.
