Chidambareswarar Kazhumaram is a small east-facing temple with an entrance gateway on the east side. A single Prakaram houses all the shrines and the Sanctum Sanctorum. A Nandi faces the lord who is visible through a Saalaram (viewing window) on the east side. On either side of the Saalaram are Dwara Vinayaka and Dwara Muruga. The sanctum sanctorum is entered through the maha mandapam which has the entrance on the south side. There is an Ardha Mandapam before the Sanctum Sanctorum. The main deity is a small Lingam. There are two Vinayakas in the Prakaram, one in a shrine and another is an idol in the southwest corner. Mahavishnu is seen in a separate shrine along with his consorts. The temple is in the Somaskandar formation with Muruga and his consorts in a shrine in between the main deity and the goddess. The goddess shrine is separate and facing east. In front of the goddess’s shrine is a well. The walls of the sanctum and the shrines have many carvings of fish symbols and other ornamental designs. The Prakaram has a cloistered mandapam on the south side where the Madapalli (kitchen) is present and the Vaahanas (mounts) are kept. The Then Pennai River flows just south of the village.

Chidambareswarar Kazhumaram is an ancient temple as is evident from the many inscriptions found here. The presence of fish symbols all around also confirms its antiquity indicating Pandya Contribution. The historical information and the details of the inscriptions are not available as of now.

Chidambareswarar Kazhumaram can be reached by taking a turn towards the south at Kottagai or Vilandai while coming from the two towns respectively.
